At the intake of the material to be digitized, a 'first' master file is created. This is the first digital copy of the original sound recording and forms the basis for all further copies.
The master file is created by converting a Reel-to-Reel 1/4 inch tape, Compact Cassette, Digital Compact Cassette, DAT, MiniDisc, 45-33 rpm record, 78 rpm Shellac record, video VHS, SVHS, DV, Digital8, Hi8 cassette,... to a digital file format.
Of course, we always keep an unedited version of the master file separately during the digitization process.
